From an 1837 Township to a 1962 City
Walker Township organized on December 30, 1837, the second in Kent County, and covered all land north of the Grand River; Samuel and Lydia White settled there that year. The City of Walker wasn't incorporated until November 8, 1962, after renewed annexation pressure on its industrial areas.
